MDUK Wins Thanks to Ian
We are very proud of Infrastructure Solution Architect and car fanatic Ian Vickery who Sunday donned the lycra for the 2017 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 cycle ride. Representing #TeamOrange by riding for Muscular Dystophy UK (MDUK), Solar’s chosen charity, Ian saddled up and rode the 100 mile route. The ride took place through the streets of London beginning at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford and finished in front of Buckingham Palace.
MDUK is a charity particularly close to the company’s hear due to Adam Charlick, the son of Phil Charlick who works in our Harlow office, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has received significant support from the team at MDUK. We are proud to support this charity and everything it acheves through its hardworking team.
Ian said: “Well I made it! Despite traffic jams on Leith Hill and a broken cleat, I made it to the finish line. It was a very long, extremely hard day but that magic last mile past the House of Parliament, through Trafalgar Square, under Amiralty Arch and up The Mall makes it all so worthwhile! I heard Phil (Charlick) was doing a trek up Killmanjaro in September and after hearing why he was putting himself thorugh such a tough physical challenge I decided to do this arduous challenge and fundarise in support of him and his commitment to MDUK. Many thanks to all of you who have arleady sponsored me but if you haven’t, it isn’t too late!”
Phil is determined to achieve his target of hitting £10K but Ian’s ride will be a nice addition to that goal – either way MDUK wins from this healthy office competition. The company has supported with significant fundraising and will be doing in-office challenges when Phil is on his arduous trek to show him we’re thinking of him!
Everything that we do in our approach to business and our customers is guided by our 4 core principles, “Go Beyond the Call”, “Lead the Way”, “Take Personal Responsibility” and “Do the Right Thing” and Ian managed to do all 4 in a day! It is not just what happens during the working day the business – after all, it is the people that make a business.
Do Your Bit
It is important that we all do our bit to help out a good cause, it just so happens Ian has done the leg work this time round so you don’t have to! So now it is time for you to do your bit and give generously to help him raise money for this fantastic cause.
You can sponsor Ian through his Virgin Money giving page, a not for profit organisation where the donations make it to those who truly need it.
Well done Ian!
